Old Fashioned Steak Marinate Prescription - Steve

1 Cup water
½ Cup Soy Sauce
½ Cup Worcestershire Sauce
1 Chopped garlic button or garlic powder equivalent
2 Tbsp. Oil
2 Tbsp. Lemon or lime juice
2 Tbsp. Bourbon or Rum (I use one shot of rum)
½ Tsp. Dry ginger
2 Tbsp. Brown sugar

I also add dry minced onions & various other spices to taste.

I have tried adding ½ package of dry steak marinate from the grocery store shelf to see what it added. I also added a little more water since much of what is in the dry package is also in the above ingredients.  I liked it. Added a little more zing.

I mix all ingredients together and shake will. You can store in on the shelf if you do not add the lemon or lime right away. If you do the full prescription then keep it in the ice box.

Marinate 1" thick pork chops for 24 hours and steaks for at least 12 hours prior to cooking. I marinate my meats in plastic bags and turn them several times during the 12 or 24 hours. By doing this you will not have to use all your marinate at one time.

I've marinated fresh mushrooms in it then sautéed them in the prescription to go on the meats or held them back to put in omelets. Good stuff.
